About Global Bob

Dance moves in Jamaica come and go. First there was the Scooby Doo, then SpongeBob, Boasty Walk and the newest are called, ”DOMINICA DOMINICA” . "I built the dance while free styling in Dominica on Tour in June 2010 and vybing with friends (Kibaki fr Alliance its is his song also that my dance was being built to), ". Well the man behind all these creations. Chad Torrington, also called GLOBAL BOB, BOGLE IS THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS FIRST DANCING NAME...(DANCER SPONGEBOB)HOWEVER, he now changed that name and repositioned himself using a more international and original name such as GLOBAL BOB “ye man!!..It definitely has a more international appeal to it rather than my former dancing name”. Chad has been dancing for as long as he can remember and he sees the ability to dance as something which just comes naturally. Dancer GLOBAL BOB demonstrates his trade mark dance "My dances are not something I sit and plan out, it just happens," GLOBAL BOB stated in an interview. 

The past student of Wolmer's Boys' High School is known at Wolmer's as the Best Dancer from 2001 - 2005. "I don't just dance, I entertain." He is now in his final year (4th) at the University of Technology studying Business Administration pursuing a major in Marketing and a minor in Finance. With his degree he hopes to open a dancing school for kids to just come and have fun. However, he did get a scholarship from a performing arts school in New York, but decided to stay with his mom as he is an only child and wasn't ready to leave home. With exams now over, Global Bob is ready to take over the World now although he is still in University. The younger performer has shared the stage with artistes such as Bogle, Tifa, Laden,Carlene Davis, Chris Martin, Brick & Lace, Sample Six to name a few. 

He also choreographed for M.I.A HOW MANY BOYZ which premiered on MTV, also assisted Tanisha Scott with the choreography for Brick n Lace's "Bad to Di BONE" and received a positive reception from the Public. He has just confirmed shows to Canada and The United States of America. He admits he likes working alone...His videos can be viewed on YouTube and many other Dancehall entertainment sites...simply type Global Bob or Google Global Bob in the search section... "I am a leader, not a follower, if I am in a group, people have the chance to over shadow me, even though in a group there is always that one person that stands out." He emphasizes his point by alluding to Michael Jackson's days as a member of the Jackson 5. He has performed all over. He encourages young dancers therefore to be serious if they are going to pursue dancing as a career. "Most dancers don’t educate themselves on how to make the maximum amounts of money. For instance, it is important for a dancer to get registered in order to be classified as a professional, image is very important" he says, adding that, "it is also important for immigration, if you have a copy of all your work to show that you are in fact established and not just word of mouth to say this is what you do for a living." GLOBAL BOB now has a DVD out which shows him in action at various shows, but it has not been completed for the public. Along with that, he has a video for the DOMINICA DOMINICA and he will be doing promotional shows for it. When he is not touring or doing shows, GLOBAL BOB spends his time chilling with his friends and his four dogs. Chad, Mr Orientation 2003, has not let any of his successes go to his head as he thinks there is more to attain. He however sites his mother and girlfriend, Joy Swaby (Mother), Vivene Powell (Aunt) as one of the reasons he is so goal-oriented. "She reminds me to always be grateful to God, to never forget my church life and also remember family and friends. I give God thanks everyday for a blessed life."
