The Online Nomination Voting process in this our third staging of the DanceJa Awards Recognition for 2012 got a late start. On February 28, 2013 the administrator started posting designed photographs of nominees, for persons to ‘Like’ their favorite in each category. Voting officially closed on March 18, 2013. The Dance Jamaica Advisory Board carried out a thorough evaluation of the accumulated likes for each Award category and establish those persons who amassed the largest volume of support in their category.
Based on the overwhelming outpouring of support and encouragement, we are convinced that Jamaican Dancehall and its varied genres of Dance has impacted the world in a significant way and will continue to grow exponentially.
We gained participation from every continent in the globe and experienced an unprecedented level of enthusiasm from the nominees and fans alike.
This is a great sign for the future of Dancehall and we are convinced that through these awards, we are making a positive impact on the growth and development of our Dancehall culture across the world and on the rise of this creative Dance phenomenon which has now become a key part of this culture as well.
The initial plan was to announce the official winners at an Awards Ceremony to be held during the International Dancehall Homecoming Event which included Cultural Dance Workshops and International Dancehall Championships during the period August 8-11, 2013. However, due to unforeseen circumstances the Award Show was cancelled. The Winners were announced on Facebook by way of posting a designed photograph of the winners in each category.
We are pleased to announce the winners DanceJa’s Global Link Awards. Through this online recognition, we celebrate the 2012 achievements of our dance fraternity. Continue to be an inspiration to the world through your creative art form. Congratulations!
