As an adorable, young cheerleader for her local Pop Warner Football Team in Forestville, California, Charlotte Nehm fell in love with performing with others. She continued into high school as the Captain of her crew, choreographing numerous thrilling moves, until her initial dance class at the age of fourteen at a small public high school in Northern California. From then on, she began to eat, drink and sleep, DANCE! Charlotte knew immediately that she wanted to be a dance teacher, for her joy of dancing grew even larger and more expansive when shared with other dancers, students and audiences. Today, Charlotte has a reputation in San Francisco for being an incredible teacher and dancer, taking on many dance forms with both creativity and cultural sensitivity.

Dancehall from JA to SF:
After taking her first dancehall workshop from Maïmouna Coulibaly, a visiting artist from France she was hooked! With no dancehall classes offered regularly in the bay area, she began traveling to Jamaica to learn and absorb as much as she could. She feels so fortunate to have the opportunity of training this past summer at DanceJA studio with many amazing teachers including Latonya Style, Schoy Stewart, Kimiko Versatile, Andre Cosmic and the BG Dancerz. This September, returning from her 5th trip to Jamaica, Charlotte began teaching Dancehall classes and workshops at ODC Dance Commons. Charlotte’s love affair with dancehall is only just beginning, so watch out for Dancehall to blow up the bay!
